Cookies Policy

What cookies are, which ones we use, and how you can keep them under control.

1. What are cookies?

A cookie is a small text file that a website asks your browser to save on your device. It usually holds a short piece of information — a preference, a session identifier or a simple counter. Cookies do not run programs, they do not access other files on your device, and they cannot install anything.

2. Why we use them

We use a small, deliberate set of cookies for two simple reasons. The first is to keep the site working properly — for example, remembering whether you have already dismissed the cookie notice. The second is to understand which pages people find useful, so that we can improve the library over time.

3. Categories we use

3.1 Strictly necessary

These cookies are essential for the website to function. They cannot be switched off in our systems, because the site would simply not work without them. They include a small preference stored in your browser's local storage to record your choice about cookies.

3.2 Analytics

These cookies help us understand, in aggregate, how visitors use the site. They tell us which pages are popular and roughly how long people spend on them. The information is anonymised and reported as totals, never linked to an individual.

3.3 Functional

These cookies remember small preferences such as the way you have set up the contact form draft in your browser. They make the site a little easier to use, but the site will still work without them.

4. Third-party cookies

We embed a small number of third-party services that may set their own cookies, including an embedded map and a CDN-delivered icon and font library. We do not control these cookies, but we choose providers that publish clear policies of their own. Their use is governed by the privacy notices of the respective providers.

5. How long cookies last

Some cookies expire as soon as you close your browser (session cookies). Others remain for a defined period — typically between one day and twelve months. None of our own cookies last longer than twelve months.

6. Managing your preferences

When you first visit the site you will see a small notice asking whether you accept cookies. You can change that choice at any time by clearing the site data in your browser settings. Most browsers also allow you to block cookies entirely or to be warned before any cookie is stored.

7. Useful links

  • Open your browser's settings menu and look for “Privacy”, “Cookies” or “Site data”.
  • The Information Commissioner's Office publishes a clear guide to cookies for UK residents.
  • You can read more about how we look after data in our Privacy Policy.

8. Changes

If we change the set of cookies we use, we will update this page and refresh the date at the top. Material changes will also be flagged on the home page for at least thirty days.

9. Questions

If anything on this page is unclear, please reach out through the form on our Contact page and we will be happy to walk you through it.
